My father paid because the technician demanded him to pay the amount. My father did not agree to additional services but only to get a $40 oil change. However, he refused, he stated that my father agreed to pay the amount. I called the Arnold location Manager Greg ** to get refunded. The Arnold location took advantage of two naive people: a child who is incapable of making a mechanical decision and an elder that spoke very limited English. The granddaughter, afraid that the car will breakdown, gave the technician the go-ahead on their recommendation to get the engine flushed. The technician did not listen to him and told the granddaughter that there is a lot wrong with the car. My father told the technician twice that he wanted engine oil change only. The technician told his granddaughter that if he did not get the Engine Flush and Engine Treatment, the car will break down. Their process now has me waiting up to 48 hours for a return call from the district manager/owner.ĭuring his first visit at this Arnold location, he went with his granddaughter to translate for him since he speaks very limited English. I called the corporate hot line and filed a complaint. The manager said that because my car has over 120,000 miles on it and the pan is aluminum, it wasn't there fault entirely. I explained that I was interested in paying anything for the damage they caused. He recommended that I have the father of his associate John do the work. I left the car with the manager on 1/9/12 as requested but received a call from him as I arrived at my house (I guess he found my number on the system this time) and he said that he had taken all but one bolt out of the pan and found that it was under the transmission and that he couldn't do the job. I did as he requested and was told by him that he could perform the work on Monday evening, 1/9/12 if I left it with him over night. He asked me to bring my car in to see if he could do the work himself. I called the shop on 1/6/12 and spoke to the manager who said that he didn't have my phone number (my account has been on their computer for almost 9 years now) so he wasn't able to call me back. I did not receive a call back and finally on 1/5/12, I called the shop again only to be told the manager was out and would call me the next day. I then called my dealer and found that the repair would run approximately $375.00. Several days later, I called the shop and spoke to the manager who said he would have to "get some numbers put together" and he would call me back with the plan of action. Of course I did, but felt like they were trying to sweep it under the rug. I was told that I could write something down if I wanted. When I paid the bill, I noticed and mentioned that there was no mention of the damage done.
The shop manager said he was sorry and that he would take care of the repairs when I was ready as we needed the car the next day for a trip. They were trying to locate a temporary plug that was bigger and would fit. I was told that when the technician was re-inserting the drain plug in the oil pan, he stripped the threads out of the pan. After several customers cars had arrived and left after my service started, I asked why the delay with my car. On 12/16/11, I had a standard oil change and tire rotation performed. I know how my vehicle runs and how it feels. Never! Nothing unusual has occurred with my vehicle yet but I'll give it a couple of days to see if something is out of place. So what was I charged for exactly? Never, ever, will I return to this particular location for an oil change. And what the heck is "P5W30BH"? Is that a made-up or hidden service code? I don't care that they did all the other extras because I had already cleaned the inside of my car and checked the tires.

Then they charged $21.99 for Synthetic Blend Upgrade Oil which I know I can purchase for much cheaper else where. I felt like I was bullied into the package I ultimately paid for $69.27! What the heck just happened here?Īs I'm looking over the description of the so-called services provided, I noticed that they provided me with a signature service which I don't recall agreeing to, especially since I asked about the advertised special. The time came to meet with an employee in their office to discuss the cost of the oil change but instead of getting the advertised price, which I did ask about, I was told that "because your car has high mileage we have to use a higher grade of oil." I didn't know what to make of this statement.
